Country, Terra Australis, New Holland, Australia…,
Animals and plants found nowhere else on the planet (including many of the world’s deadliest), the world’s oldest rainforest, the world’s largest living structure, the world’s oldest continuous human culture, a British colony founded by criminals.., sound interesting?
Experience all this and more during our trip to Australia. This course will immerse students in the “land down under” from the perspectives of ecological diversity, the evolution of the Australian flora and fauna, and the intersecting histories of two major human immigration events. Far from being just a sightseeing trip, I will challenge the students to see this amazing country in light of important issues that affect us all (e.g., global climate change, biodiversity loss, and modern human immigration issues). I hope that students will come away from this experience with an appreciation for Australia, and also a wider view of the world in general. |
